Let’s just begin by saying Paul Selig’s channelled works are not going to be everyone’s cuppa tea, but I see them as neither "religious" nor "airy fairy". If you’ve ever listened to any of Paul’s channellings by The Guides, you’ll realise that he is one of the most grounded channellers of our time.
I Am The Word is one of his earlier works, dating back to 2009, and so it focuses on explaining some of the terms that were less commonly used by the new age community then, centered around the time of transition when everyone was talking about "the Shift" and what that might mean for us as a humanity. Paul uses a language in line with Western/Christian Esotericism, which may put some readers off, but I urge readers to come with an open mind, understanding that the Christ is less about the avatar Jesus in the biblical stories, but about the Divinity within. i don’t mean any disrespect to Paul’s works, but my uncle did not resonate with this terminology, yet when we shifted the attention from the words used, and focused on the meaning and messages instead of getting hung up on terminology, Paul’s books brought us much illumination at a very difficult time during my uncle’s recovery.
In the book, The Guides explained, "The Christ within you is a frequency that is aligned within the heart center and it glows like a flame, and it brings to it that vibration and frequency that co-resonates with it. And that which it brings to co-resonance is the Creator. If you understand that your light is a piece of the great light, then you have the beginning of the understanding of your Christed Self."
The tone of The Guides is authoritative, gentle, wise, but firm. It is not one of those "feel-good" new-age spiritual-bypassing books for sure, but I rather admired the certainty with which the messages are delivered, making the teaching very believable, especially for those of us needing some strengthening of faith during difficult times. It also required us to step up and make the choices necessary for the transformation we claim to want.
This transformational manual is dedicated to making this essential knowing accessible. The teachings offer concrete steps for shifting from fear-based thinking to love-based awareness. There is use of metaphor, storytelling, and examples where The Guides show us how to shift the perception and belief structure of how we view the unfolding in our lives.
For example, The Guides remind us that what we speak of ourselves, we are inheriting our history in a present moment statement. So when we say "I am confused", we are inheriting that as our truth and acclimating to the energy of confusion through the statement. Of course, this applies to all things, but it was such an important reminder for us as caregivers to speak to our patients in a way that reminds them of the life, future, and hope that they should focus on, rather than keeping them trapped in the state of illness and dis-ease. I see this rampant in the most well-meaning of visitors, who come and start to over-empathise and start to elaborate nonstop about the “misfortune” that has befallen the patient, without realising that they are in fact, claiming this reality for those someone they claim to care about and love.
This is one of the books I don’t advise one to go to AI for a "quick summary" because there is value in being steeped in the words of The Guides. It is less about the number of pages, but about being attuned to the frequency of the teaching, because at some point, the words fade away, and this whole reading becomes a giant mass of feeling rather than clear chapters or points. If you’ve ever had the chance to read channelled material out loud, you’ll discover that when you’re fully attuned to the frequency of the teaching, your eyes lose focus but the words roll out of you as if you’ve read the text before. It is a meditative process, one akin to being in a liminal state of being both the reader and the listener all at once.
The book promises the mind some form of intellectual learning as we take in the printed words, but also works on the energetic body of the reader if we permit it and are attuned to the frequencies of The Guides. This was of especial comfort for me, knowing that even if my uncle may not be functioning at full mental capacity, that energetically the reading of the book helps him in some way.
Here I share 3 of the invocations that The Guides had prescribed as "homework" that I found most practical. They can be used for setting intentions or as affirmations, or simply as mantras when we find ourselves out of alignment with our highest frequencies.
"I am now choosing to think only those thoughts which will bring me peace and will align me to a higher consciousness. I am doing this easily and through my own intention to know myself as Word. Word I am Word through this intention. Word I am Word."
"I am choosing to release the pattern of worry that has created these problems, and I do this fully on all levels: past, present, future, and align myself to the new thought that I have put forth. I am Word through this intention. Word I am Word."
"I am in reception of my intentions, reaping the benefits of that which I have called forth into being. Word I am Word through this intention. Word I am Word."
The book emphasizes that spiritual awakening isn't about becoming someone new, but about remembering who we've always been by understanding our relationship with Divinity. It's about claiming our worth and stepping into our authentic power—not power over others, but the ability to create positive change in our own lives and the world around us by attunement to frequency.
The message of empowerment is always one I love, because it reminds both my uncle and i that we’re both active players in this story, that we’re not helpless in our situation, and that we both have our parts to play. That said, it was a little more special for our situation because it created a connection that went beyond us as individuals, but as both having the same Creation frequency running through us, like two beats of the same rhythm or two notes of a chord. It is easy to feel separate from those we care for, not for the lack of empathy, but for the lack of feedback. There will be days we get zero response from our patients, with no indication if we were doing the right thing for them, or if they needed something different. I Am The Word explained everything as a frequency alignment, a causal frequency that united us, which helps create a sense of connection, albeit on a different plane.
I started my uncle with Paul’s works because The Guides, a collective of Ascended Masters whom he channels, had at some point cited that they were of the Melchizedek lineage. My uncle and I both have Arcturus strong in our fixed star charts, where it is said that the spirit of Melchizedek originates, guarding the 12 Knowledges that exist as Pillars of Pure Light.
At the time when I couldn’t get feedback from him as he was mostly in an almost-comatose state, I turned to his chart to try to call upon the guides that may be present in his energetic field for blessings. Desperate? Very. But two decades ago, my uncle was the first person to introduce me to Sacred Geometry through the work of Drunvalo Melchizedek, who was teaching the Flower of Life, and so I had to trust that it was a golden cosmic thread that I could follow and trust.
I share my process here because a huge part of being a caregiver is that there is no manual you can count on, because every situation (patient personality + medical condition + circumstances) is different. There are general guidelines that we can follow, for example, we do know that comatose patients can hear, but to know what to turn to, and which books will bring a breakthrough is a completely intuitive process. We spent A LOT of time in the hospital, it was months on end of daily reading, which allowed me to cover so much ground in what must have been well over a thousand hours of reading. My uncle and I had spirituality in common, and I leaned into that connection. Every caregiver will have to find their own “in” with those they care for, playing to their own strengths and beliefs so the connection is authentic and honours both parties involved.
